요코하마 출생. 이소다 히데끼는 어려서부터 소리와 음악에 높은 관심을 보여 색소폰을 시작한다. 일본의 쇼난예고 졸업 후, 색소폰계의 거장인 유진 루소에게 음악적 재능을 인정받아 미국 유학길에 오른다. 그는 음악가로서 뿐만 아니라 일본 NHK 뉴스 테마곡 제작, 파나소닉사 CM곡 제작등 작곡가로서 기반을 다지며 그의 20대를 보낸다.

음악가와 작곡가로서의 그의 경험은 ‘더 좋은 소리, 더 듣기 좋은 음향’에 관심을 가지게 하는데, 이는 1997년 루소 교수와 함께 RIAX사를 설립으로 이끈다. 그는 RIAX사 설립 후 음악가들의 연주 녹음 및 마스터링, CD제작, 마케팅을 전문적으로 담당하며 멀티미디어 크리에이터로 활약 한다.

StringPedagogy.com 이라는 최초 음악교육 ‘E-Learning (이러닝)’시스템을 만드는데 이어 젊은 바이올리니스트들의 성장과 무대를 다룬 그의 다큐멘터리 영화 ‘Circling Around (2006)’가 미국 PBS 200국 이상에서 방영되면서 에미상 후보에 오르기도 한다. 이런 그의 능력을 높이 산 호주 시드니 대학 국립 음악원 (Sydeny Conservatorium of Music) 에서 Technology and Distance Learning 학장을 역임하며 학생들을 지도한다.

현재 그는 Texas Tech University 음대 교수로 학생들에게 그의 경험을 살려 음악에 기술, 미디어, 비즈니스 등 여러 다양한 분야를 융합시킨 학제적 학문 (Interdisciplinary Subjects) 을 가르치고 있다. 또한 ‘음악과 행복’을 주제로 음악이 인간에게 미치는 긍정적인 영향에 대해 연구하고 있다.

Philosophy

"Circling Around" is more than the title of my films. It reflects how I understand the movement of knowledge, creativity, and human connection across generations. Learning does not move in straight lines; it returns, evolves, and continues.

A student learns from a teacher and, in time, becomes a teacher. What is passed on is not only knowledge or skill, but also love and care. These circulate through time, expanding beyond their origin. Education, in this sense, is continuity, with each generation receiving, transforming, and sharing anew.

Since the early 1990s, I have worked as a media composer, recording engineer, producer, filmmaker, and technologist. I continue to advance these practices through research and professional service. These are the same disciplines I guide students to pursue with rigor, responsibility, and professional integrity.

As an educator, my purpose is to contribute to this living circle, both now and beyond my lifetime.

I was fortunate to learn from exceptional teachers and mentors whose generosity shaped my path. In gratitude, my mission is to return what I received, expanded and carried forward with enduring love and care.
